  1. Welcome to TAA™

  4. TAA stands for Technical Assistance Assistant.
  5.  
  6. TAA was designed to help you and our Technical Support department track down problems that you may encounter.  TAA generates a list of everything that you have installed in your system.  This includes INIT's, cdevs, RDEVs, drivers and fonts.  It will also list exact information about the type of system, memory, version numbers, and creation dates of other important system files.

  8. The report that is generated is very detailed.  Do not be concerned if you do not understand everything that the report is listing.

  10. PLEASE NOTE:  Do not send your TAA report to us unless one of our support representatives requests it for further diagnosis of your problems.  All reports are held in strict confidentiality and will only be used for diagnosing technical problems.

  13. How to use TAA

To create a system report, double click the TAA icon.  The program will load and ask if you would like to generate a report.  Click the Run button to generate a report.  As the report is generated, it will appear on the screen.  Cut and Paste are disabled in TAA to prevent deletion of data.  You may use the Copy command to copy parts of the report to other applications.

  18. Canceling a Report

  20. Pressing a Command-Period will stop generation of a report at any time.  TAA will place a "Report Canceled" message on the last line of the report.

  25. When you print a TAA report, the first page that is printed is a cover sheet with information about contacting CE Software and how to supply us with your information.  There is no way to turn off printing of the cover sheet.

  30. When you save a TAA report to disk, it is saved in TeachText™ format.  Information is included on how to contact CE Software.  You can open a TAA report with any word processor.

  33. Opening Large TAA Reports

  35. If your TAA report is larger than 32K, TeachText will not be able to open it.  Launch your favorite word processor, select Open from the File menu.  Select the TAA report in the Open dialog box that appears.  The TAA report will open on your screen.
